A Preacher, a Barber, and Free Will

A preacher and an atheistic barber were once walking through the city slums. Said the barber to the preacher: "This is why I cannot believe in a God of love. If God was as kind as you say, He would not permit all this poverty, disease, and squalor. He would not allow these poor bums to be addicted to dope and other character-destroying habits. No, I cannot believe in a God who permits these things."

The minister was silent until they met a man who was especially unkempt and filthy. His hair was hanging down his neck and he had a half-inch of stubble on his face. Said the minister: "You must not be a very good barber because you wouldn't permit a man like that to continue living in this neighborhood without a haircut and shave." Indignantly the barber answered: "Why blame me for that man's condition? I can't help it that he is like that. He has never come in my shop; I could fix him up and make him look like a gentleman!"

Giving the barber a penetrating look, the minister said: "Then don't blame God for allowing the people to continue in their evil ways, when He is constantly inviting them to come and be saved."

We have no right to blame God.
by Sebastian D'Souza on 18th Jun, 2009
Dear Readers.
Christian greetings. We always come across such comments from people. Many a time I have heard people blaming God for their problems not knowing that they themselves are to be blamed for that situation. Bible is very clear about it. Bible says " You shall reap what you sow. " So also bible says. " What you say shall come to you. " People hate others and in return they get same. People create trouble for others so people create problems for them. It is a universal law.
Some time back I had written on this website saying people like poverty. And it is true. Instead of approaching God for their condition they blame God for their plight. God is constantly calling them because He loves them. In a way God allows such situation in our lives in order to draw us near Him. Instead of blaming we should try to find what God wants to teach us through such problems or even suffering. God wants to draw us near and for that He causes us to face such situation. Instead of blaming if people surrender to Jesus and commit their lives to Him, their every problem would be solved by God himself. I have gone through poverty. I had bad habits of drinking and smoking. But when I committed my life to Jesus and accepted Him as my Savior, He lifted me up and helped me to come out of poverty. He also helped me to give up drinking and smoking. Before I used to borrow money from others but now Jesus has blessed me so much that He causes me to help others. I don't do anything He does everything in my life. He leads me,guides me, helps me. So my not advice but request to each and everyone that they should heed to his call and allow Him to take hold of their lives and help them to overcome poverty and also each and every problem. Thank you. Bye.

"ome to me those who are weary and laden and I will give you rest. " (Mathew 11:28)
by Sebastian D'Souza on 20th Jun, 2009
Dear Readers,
Christian greetings. The above words are of of Jesus Christ. In fact it is a call for those people who are tired of their life which is full of problems and troubles. And moreover everyone is burdened with sins. First of all we are sinners and being sinners we commit more sins and add more sins to our account. And as years go by we go on adding and adding. And there is no end to it. That is why Jesus says that we are laden with sins. I will give you simple example. We are born sinners. So when a person comes in this world There is one original sin in his account. As years go by he commits one sin per day and thus he commits 365 sins per year. At the age of 10 he will find 3650 sins in his accounts. And at the of 20 he will find 7310. Just one sin per day. But if it is more then you can imagine what will be in his account. So being sinners all are weary and all are heavily laden. Where this person would go ? His destination is hell. Suffering here when he is in this world and hell after his death. This is the sorry state of every sinner. Is there any way out? Yes there is a way and that "way" is Jesus. For Jesus says. " I am the way,the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. " (John 14:6) First He gives a call and then He says I am the way. Come to me and I will forgive your sins and cleanse your sinful heart and make you righteous. Not only that, I will give you my peace, joy and happiness. I will help you in your difficulties and also help you to solve your problems. Over and above I will give you eternal life. These are the promises of Jesus. If you are interested then come and say this prayer. " Lord Jesus I believe that I am a sinner. I also believe that you died for my sins. Lord Jesus, please forgive my sins and cleanse my heart with your precious blood. Lord Jesus, thank you for forgiving my sins and also thank you for making me righteous. Also thank you for accepting me as your rightful child. Lord Jesus I want to commit my life to you. I promise to read your word everyday. I also promise that I will obey your teachings. Lord Jesus give the gift of the Holy Spirit which you have promised in your word. Lord Jesus thank you for giving me your Spirit. Heavenly Father I praise and adore you. I also worship you in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. "
God says. " You shall live by faith." So we have to live by faith. By faith you have to believe that Jesus has come into your heart through the Holy Spirit. He is your Saviour because He has saved you from going to hell. He will bless you because you have committed your life to Him. So rejoice and be glad. Bye. God bless you.
